Womens Fashion
Women,
in many ways, have a great advantage in the world of fashion
- while men are generally limited to trousers and blue jeans
or the occasional kilt (except perhaps at fancy dress parties),
womens fashion can be from dress trousers, blue jeans, long skirts,
short skirts and dresses both dressy and casual. Women can get
away with almost whatever fashion they're most comfortable with.
On the downside, it sometimes seems as though women's fashions
change so often you don't even get the chance to wear out your
old clothes, before the magazines tell you it's time to buy a
new wardrobe. Often, it might seem like there is not way to be
both thrifty and stylish in the ever-changing world of womens
fashion. But if you're careful with the clothes you choose, you
can not only fill a wardrobe with always-in classics, but choose
a few blouses
and accessories from one year to the next to keep your classic
pieces looking very up to date.
Of all the items of womens clothing, blue jeans are one of
the most versatile wardrobe pieces you can buy. Although they
change fashions almost as quickly as anything else, you can safely
ignore any sudden bell bottom or low-rise or bleached out trends
that come along, in favor of keeping a couple pairs of properly
fitted, straight or slightly flared leg jeans. Mens jeans are
cut with a lower waistline than "traditional" women's
jeans as well, so that's an option for finding a happy medium
on the current low-waisted trend.
The iconic Little Black Dress did not become a stereotype
for no good reason. Finding a simple, not-too-long, not-too-short
black dress is almost a must for the basic women's wardrobe.
You
can dress it up with a fancy cardigan, go casual with a simple
jacket, wear sheer stockings or opaque tights, with flat shoes
or heels, pearls or a simple chain and pendant, or just about
anything else. A classic black dress can go from the office to
a romantic dinner by pulling your hair back and changing your
lipstick.
Every woman should have a couple pairs of nice dress slacks,
and simple skirts as well. With the addition of a few neutral-colour
blouses, a black knit shirt or two, and a selection of jackets
and jumpers for any weather, your basic wardrobe is complete.
Now all you need to do to stay current with women's fashions
is to look out for stylish jewelry, shoes, pick up a few colorful
blouses each year to pair with your basic wardrobe, and perhaps
find a good reason to pick up a new pair of shoes now and then.
If your basic wardrobe choices agree with your personal sense
of style, and you pick your 'fashionable' accessories and underwear
well, you'll soon have an individual fashion to call your own.
Although you won't look totally out of touch, you'll also never
look like you're desperately trying to copy a magazine. And a
confident woman with her own sense of style always makes a good
impression.
